Late 40's French Couture design by Hattie Carnegie, known for her ability to not only to reproduce the major French designers of the period but also employing American designers who became noted for their innovative creations for the American market.
This is an exceptional piece designed, cut and sewn in the style of haute couture and a custom piece made for a specific client. Fashioned of layers of silver blue silk chiffon and lined in silk charmeuse. Halter style draped bodice with open ruched back. Lined in silk charmeuse; bustline interior has additional lining. Condition: excellent; 2 bottom hemline mends from heels. Not apparent as they are lost in the voluminous folds of chiffon. In addition to the Carnegie label there is client's name and dress is numbered (see pic below). Bust: to 32"; waist: 26"; length: approx 55-56" ![]() |
