20th century French designer, Paul-Louis Orrier, reached prominence in the opulent 80's designing fabulous over-the-top sweeping entrance-making evening wear. His evening wear designs were very cutting edge and angular and his ability to manipulate fabric into complicated and intricate sophisticated designs is still memorable today. His spectacular entrance pieces are not readily available as they were not mass produced. His clients were many Hollywood celebrities; and his designs are in permanent collections of several major museums.
Halter open back black velvet bodice with keyhole front and neckline adorned with various sized goldtone charms. Full overskirt of back silk taffeta extend out at hips with underskirt of black velvet. A very dramatic gown reflecting the opulence and high fashion of the 1980's. Bust: to 35"; waist: approx 28"; length: 61' Condition: excellent; some charms slighly tarnished but enhances interest at neckline.  |
